Telecom OSS Systems - A Starter Information Guide
Open Source Software, also known as telecom OSS, is provided to users for free. The interesting aspect about this however is that the user will be able to access the program's original source code. The owner of the program can actually change the application to suit their needs. Constant revisions can be made to improve the program that will affect anyone that has the application.
The power to modify applications with telecom OSS is the opposite of the Closed Source applications model. In Closed Source, only the originator of the application has use of the source code and for that reason, only the originator has the capacity to modify the application. Having the ability to change the way an Open Source applications works is critical in several business conditions. Absolutely no two businesses are comparable and therefore it is not likely that one item of applications will satisfy the needs of all potential customers. Without the capability to alter their applications a company is actually fixed in its operations.
While it is true no two companies are identical, it is also factual that there are a several company practices which are repeated throughout companies.
